I heard a great deal bad reasons for mongoose brakes, However I haven't had any issues with them once i fixed them. the leading brakes were just come up with wrong.. We bought this bike for the 7 years old boy. He loves the BMX features like the posts he does not know cooking techniques yet - and mostly just stands about the back ones every once in awhile.  This 18 inch frame would be a good transition size for him. I believe the 20 inch frame could have been too large. Appears just like a durable bike to date. Hands brakes are able to be used by his 7 years old hands.
