CNET Editor’s Choice Award (featuring the 532 LR) By Steve Guttenberg, CNET.com (AperionAudio.com) |
Aperion's knockout package has survived a makeover and still offers great sound, superb build quality, and extraordinary value.”
Aperion Audio's recipe for success couldn't be more straightforward: offer state-of-the-art customer service, build great-sounding speakers and sell them direct, via the Internet. By eliminating all of the middlemen's profits, Aperion offers a level of build quality rarely achieved at this price range. A couple of years ago, we were wowed by the sound (and the gorgeous looks) of the company's 522 bookshelf speaker. The company has tweaked it slightly and rechristened it as the 532. While messing with success is always a dicey proposition, we're happy to report the "newly voiced" Intimus surround system is not only as impressive as its predecessor, the sound quality is actually slightly improved.

Terrific speaker By Roshan Naik (AperionAudio.com) |
Hard to beat. But should be paired with a sub. I prefer bookshelves like this one that does not try to reproduce bass all the way down... they usually make the sound "congested". Best when left to the subs. |

Open room surround system By Tyrone (AperionAudio.com) |
I've installed four of the 532's along w/ a 10" sub and a center in a 15' square room with one open archway 9' wide on one side and hardwood floors. Once configured correctly, these, combined with the Denon 2807 media receiver, create a robust music and surround system. Listening to the 1812 Overture (SACD) shows off the impressive range and clarity of the speakers. The canon detonations at the end sound like thunder in the living room. Listening to the DVD Audio version of The Dark Side of the Moon reveals instruments I never knew where there. I feel like an orchestra has moved into my living room! |

These are the fronts on my system in a 12x15 room run by a pioneer 80txv with a samsung 56" dlp and they and they are just as good as my definitive technology 2004s in the main room. Mated also to Aperion Audio 12" Sub. The whole system just kills me. |

Every detail is there By Shane (AperionAudio.com) |
These speakers are just the best. I've had these since 2001 and they sound just like new. People always ask what I have and question the name since its not sold at the big box home theater stores, but once they hear it they change their minds pretty quick.
The quality of these speakers is amazing. Its nice to have something of this quality in your home theater. It beats all the normal plastic that is used these days.

Consider The Intimus 532-LR and No Other! By Aperion Fan (AperionAudio.com) |
Purchased for my 7.1 system two years ago, these speakers only seem to get better with time. Sounds are crisp, balanced, full-bodied and accurate. I'd recommend them to anyone adding to their current system or putting together a new one. Top-notch sound for not too much cash--what more can you ask? |

Wow! By Aperion Fan (AperionAudio.com) |
Forget everything you have heard about other 'satellite' speakers. When my friends mention Bose, I cringe. I direct them immediately to the Aperion website. From the inside out these Aperion speakers blow the competition away. I run these through Acurus pre-amp and amps. I was impressed even upon the first listen. I listened to dvd-audio my first time and I was almost in tears. If you are an audiophile, you know what I mean. Hearing the subtle little sounds your other speakers hissed out... and the deep and powerful bass your subwoofer distorted... all gone. This 12" sub loses nothing. Aperion knows how to treat a customer, as well. I received gold-plated banana plugs for all speakers, monster cable, an SPL meter, white gloves and more...These speakers are first class all the way. I mean... gold plated binding posts?? And thats just one of the 'finishing' touches. Beautiful piano black finish... I could go one forever. But aside from all the nice accessories, the sound is incredible. They also come in velvet, satin-lined bags. Hello? Did someone say pampered?? I love these speakers for the amazing and true sound and I love the company for its attention to to detail and outstanding customer service. You won't find this combination at this price level anywhere else. |

Can handle anything I throw at them By Michael Bevilacqua (AperionAudio.com) |
I purchased a pair of Intimus 532-LR Bookshelf Speakers in May of 2007 for our living room area. My friend from Portland, OR made the initial recommendation. With the 30-day risk-free in-home audition and the incredible pricing and reviews I went ahead and bought a pair.
I primarily listen to ambient music for the most part. Pieces ranging from strong atmospheric and tribal like Michael Stearns and Steve Roach to synthesizer based composition like Thom Brennan and Paul Ellis.
These speakers perform flawlessly when either thrown into some of the deepest, raging waters or conversely dripping caves. Roach and Stearns, especially, enjoy pushing their pieces occasionally to the threshold of what the CD medium can handle. There is no better way to test you speakers and your amplifiers than with some of their work. At least, that's how I hear it :)

Small speakers with amazing quality and impressive power By Angel Marrero (AperionAudio.com) |
I have a full home theater setup in a 12x14 room and I can easily say that this was one of the best investments I have made. The sound quality of these speakers is far superior to my father's Sony setup, which happen to be over 4x as large! I am thoroughly impressed with Aperion's quality and service, you won't regret it. Just make sure you buy the right speakers for the right room size. |

Amazing sound at any price. By Joseph Empero (AperionAudio.com) |
First, receiving these I was amazed at the packaging. It protected the finish to perfection (gloss black). I am amazed by the piano black finish. It is PERFECT! Now the sound. AMAZING. Much more detailed than my wharfedale towers. yet not fatiguing. The only drawback is now I can hear imperfections in my sources, especially mp3...Bittersweet I guess. RECOMMENDED... |

Take The Leap! By Gabe Frezzo (AperionAudio.com) |
I was hesitant about buying something that you would instinctively want to hear much less see. I read the review by Guttenberg on the 533-VAC center and respect his opinion, so I took the plunge and I'm glad I did! I bought the center with the 532 Bookshelves and over the next few months rounded out my HT system (Denon 2807 and Pioneer PDP-5070HD) with the 422 Satellites and S-10 woofer...I never want to leave home! Backed up with a money-back guarantee you can't go wrong...but you won't even need it. The beautiful Cherry finish makes it a wonderful piece of furniture...and those little purple bags that the speakers come in make the whole experience of doing business with Aperion an absolute pleasure! |

crisp, dynamic, powerful sound that rivals the higher echelon speakers By Vlad (AperionAudio.com) |
I listened to the 532's before I bought them so I had known of their superiority in the high range. What I didn't know, however, was the sheer power and range of these 12" bookshelves. They really pack a punch! They close the gap between subwoofer and speaker, and provide a 3d environment for your stereo (or theater) sound that is sensual, real, and unlike anything you will experience in a home theater setup under 7k.
I bought two of these with the S-10 sub for my computer setup, and I have to say that - after subjecting these speakers to the widest range of sounds possible - they really shine in any environment. From listening to heavy metal, rap, classical, and acoustic music - to playing a frighteningly realistic game of F.E.A.R. - to watching dvd and bluray movies, these speakers bridge the void between the user and the medium.
Never again will you accept music from a standard radio or mp3 player.
Never again will you wonder what a movie would sound like in a cinema.

Great looking, superb sounding speakers By John Bednarczyk (AperionAudio.com) |
When I was looking for a home surround speaker system I came across several reviews of Aperion and it caught my eye. I never knew that such a quality speaker store existed on the Internet. The look, the reviews and the 30 day guarantee told me it was worth the risk. I have not been disappointed. These 532 LR speakers that make up my 532 system are great looking and superb sounding speakers. While listening to music I like just closing my eyes while gettng the sense of being there with the musicians. While watching DVDs these speakers bring me right to where the action is. I'm enjoying my Aperion speakers. |

Customer review By -dochomy- (AperionAudio.com) |
Upgraded to the 532's from the 422's to get a better overall sound for music, the 5.1 422 system is great for movies/tv but lacked a bit when it came to music, esp with the 8" sub and I live in a place were I have to keep the level down even on that.
After reading the reviews on the 532's they seemed the perfect solution for my setup. Indeed they are, that and more, out of the box I was immediately impressed with the sound and they were not mounted and calibrated yet. After dialing them in a bit I could not be happier with the sound produced; in fact I will now have to upgrade my Onkyo 674 to match the quality of these speakers, I feel it just isn't doing them justice. Either way, the 7.1 system I now have with the 532 RL, 533 center and 422 surrounds will last for years to come.

Exceptional sound, exceptional value By Jess (AperionAudio.com) |
After a good amount of research online and at various stores, I decided to "try" the Aperion 522. What the heck, I thought...30d risk-free?! I use a pair of these to power an old-school receiver (not surround) and fill my living room (14 x 28) with sound. The size is perfect, easily able to blend in with the surroundings. Sound quality is exceptional for all the music I play -- from alternative to rock to world to lounge/groove. There's really no better product that combines size, quality and value. |

Very good bookshelf speakers for the size By Justin Kim (AperionAudio.com) |
These little speakers can rock. Surprising bass for the size and very clean mid/highs. They can also play fairly loudly without distorting. The finish and quality are top-notch. Very impressed.
The only reason for the 4 rating instead of the 5 are its tendency to sound a bit harsh and forward at very high volumes. I would say at low to medium volumes they sound crisp, detailed, and overall very musical. Once you raise the volume to high levels, the vocals could sound a bit too forward and lose the overall smoothness. I suspect this is to be expected of such small speakers, but neverthless a bit of a smoother high-end overall would benefit loud listens with little sacrifice at low volumes.
Overall, a very good speaker I would not hesitate to recommend, especially for the price.

Best satellites I've ever owned By J (AperionAudio.com) |
I've owned a pair of these to go along with the rest of my Aperion 5.1 system for almost three years now. They are currently wired into my computer through an optical input and have performed flawlessly. I was most surprised by the strong bass response, something unexpected from a pair of satellites. These are more than strong enough to fill a mid sized room, I have woken up my entire family on more than one occasion with these suckers. |

Great Speakers!! By doctadeep (AperionAudio.com) |
I purchased an older iteration of these speakers (522-LR) almost 3 years ago and they still sound excellent. I have a 6-speaker system for a rather small but cozy living room, with the S-10 and the 522-VAC center channel speaker. I primarily use the system for watching TV in Dolby Digital, but I am constantly amazed at the clarity when I have music playing during parties. I definitely recommend investing in Aperion's great products. |

5 years and counting! By jlzaroo (AperionAudio.com) |
I still remember when Aperion only offered 3 subwoofers and 2 speakers (522LR and 522VAC) making the choice easy. That was when I took the plunge (probably close to 5 years ago) and got a 6-speaker system with a S8-APR sub. It was easy to take the plunge knowing they have a great 30 day risk free trial. It came with the older version of these speakers (522LR) and I have to say they still haven't failed to impress. I have a Sonos hooked up to the system for music and an HDTV entertainment system for games and TV. People always marvel at the clarity, balance and power in the sound and think the system is brand new. The only thing was- one of the 522 speakers stopped working a little after the warranty expired. Aperion still honored the service warranty and replaced it for free which is a testament to their service and backing of their products! The only thing I regret is that they now have so many other speaker choices that I would have chosen instead. But my wallet and wife are very thankful that this wasn't the case back then. |

Awesome speakers! By Chris Salter (AperionAudio.com) |
I would recommend these to anyone, they look great, and sound even better. I live in Portland, so I had the pleasure of going to Aperion and checking out their sound room and putting several speakers to the test. Everyone was really helpful and knowledgeable. Even if you don't get to hear them first you have nothing to lose with the 30 day trial. |

Great bookshelf speakers By Jeff Ranck (AperionAudio.com) |
I heard about Aperion from a friend at work and have had my eye on them for some time. Before purchasing I called several times and talked to the folks at Aperion. I have to say, that they were so very helpful in helping me select speakers and answering all my questions. I couldn't be happier with the speakers. The bookshelf are great, although to really make them shine I needed to do a bit of manual tuning after my system did its automated setup. They are a great compliment to the 533-VAC center channel. |

NOT AN AUDIOPHIE BUT I KNOW QUALITY WHEN I HEAR IT!!! By cruhld (AperionAudio.com) |
I had Bose cube speakers and wanted to upgrade! Listened to Klipsh, Bose, and the others at Circuit City, Best Buy, etc. Read the reviews, liked the fact that I could listen to them in my own home and if I didn't like them I could send them back at NO COST to me. I took a chance on these speakers and am exceedingly pleased with them. With the Bose speakers my wife was constantly asking me to turn the volume down. My wife has never asked me to turn the volume down now. The sound is truly exceptional. |

Amazing sound from just 2 speakers! By Dan Peterson (AperionAudio.com) |
The 532s are the first speaker purchase in my new system. Due to a small home theater budget and the fact that I'm starting from scratch having completely sold my old system for the last month I've had only a stereo setup waiting to build up to 5.1 again.
I was pretty worried about the sound quality with only 2 speakers and had never heard of Aperion before so I did a TON of research. I couldn't find a single bad review anywhere! These are definitely living up to their reputation. Great sound in both the mid and high ranges and very surprising bass with no sub. Obviously not earth-shaking but awesome none-the-less. I never expected a stereo setup to sound this good!
Just ordered the S-10 sub and will order the 533-VAC center channel from Aperion soon. If these sound as good as they do alone I can't imagine how great it will be with the sub and center added!
