Great telescope. I first got it for my hubby for his birthday also it would be a great gift and is effective. He loves it! Simple to construct, not terribly costly, simple to use. This can be a perfect starter telescope for anybody attempting to see the heavens.

Despite a photo voltaic filter, i would recommend NO. Refractors get in many light focus which sometimes helps make the Ultra violet sun rays even emerge from photo voltaic filters.
