I purchased two backpacks like this (TETON Sports Explorer 4000) for me and my husband. We used them on are weeklong trip up to the Boundary Waters. The backpack worked out beautifully. Never had an issue with the backpacks as far as breaking. My sleeping bag did not fit in the compartment but it didn't matter anyway because we had Duluth packs. There is alot of room and pockets for almost anything. I would recommend this bag to anyone. Its inexpensive and it gets the job done. I really liked the hidden rain tarp for the bag.

I got my pretty bulky sleeping bag in just fine, with no trouble zipping. I am certain only the biggest of sleeping bags would not fit.
