Great budget chip (2010-02-06)For the price, this is a great chip for someone looking at a new computer or just wanting to upgrade their existing system. At 2.5GHz per core, the E5200 can handle most games and applications without any trouble at all, and the 45nm form factor makes it great for people worried about power consumption on their computer.
I used this chip in a sub-$1000 build for a customer that wanted speed without overhead. Because of the low power consumption, this chip combined with 4GB of RAM and a 512MB nVidia GeForce 8600 ran happily on a 450 Watt Power Supply.
Fantastic ...Great Overclocker (2010-01-30)with the right MB this chip will easily do over 3.7ghz
I used the Gladiator Max Cooler too keep it cool
This CPU was under $50 last blackfriday ..wait for a sale
great (2010-01-30)cheap, fast, low power. what else can you ask for? ideal cpu for your parent's machine or a HTPC
Great price/performance (2009-12-10)This processor is a gem in the Intel line. It achieves performance nearly equalling more expensive processors in the Intel Core 2 Duo line. It's based on the same 45 nm technology and is very fast.
Price/Performance ratio is outstanding (2009-01-05)I got this with my new computer and have had no problems with it. I used to have an amd x2 3800+ and this beats it easily, I couldn't play Dirt at the minimum settings on that, it was a slide show, this one is all high at 1680x1050 resolutions with the same graphics card and 1gb more of ram and its smooth.
Runs at 65W with the new 45nm manufacturing method making it easily OC'ed to 3.5ghz someone even got it to 4ghz on air cooling! Quads and the older DC's use 95W and have the older dies making them more prone to overheat and be less stable. This is the budget OCers dream chip! I use it at stock 2.5ghz.
I get 35FPS average on the GTA4 benchmark tool at 1440x900 with medium settings and lower settings on distance and shadows numerical settings, not too bad for an eighty dollar chip versus the quads at more than double as well as the high end duals. Compared to a q6600 with the same ram, 4GB, and the same graphics card, 8800GT512, which can set it on high settings and max the numerical settings at 1600x1200 I get 75-80% the performance.
Awesome! (2009-03-20)I have been looking for a CPU to replace an old Pentium 4, and for only ~$70 + free shipping, I picked this one up. The difference is nothing short of astounding. I've combined this with an ATI 4670 video card (~$80), and I have a budget system that can play modern games with maxed out settings. I would recommend this processor to anyone on a budget!
After seeing some other reviews on the net, I went ahead and overclocked it to 3GHz, and have had no problems.
Um, it's a microprocessor with no flaws (2009-10-02)It's as fast as advertised. It works. I have no problems with it. I had to buy a new motherboard because I didn't check the specs on the one I had to see whether the MB and CPU were compatible, but that was my own lazy fault. I'm not an idiot that complains when they buy something they don't understand and then have a problem attributable to their ignorance.
Yeah. In two words---works great.
Perfect Processor (2008-11-11)I love this processor and got it at the absolute lowest price through this purchaser. Shipping took about two weeks, and I was a little concerned it wasn't going to come at all. It did come and I am super happy to have it.
Cheap, fast! (2009-06-03)Great processor for the price... put this in a $330 budget build for a friend and it is fast! This is about as fast of a processor as anyone would need for basic modern day computing... hell, even modern games will run on this puppy (with exception to perhaps Crysis which needs the best CPU you can afford!). Protip: overclock for a good (some might call... FREE) 20% increase in performance. |
