Excellent iron (2010-03-08)I bought this iron to replace an old Westinghouse iron that I inherited from my Mother before 1980, so I calculate that it was more than 30 years old. I don't iron very often. I had washed a houseful of cafe curtains, and I wanted a good steam iron so that I wouldn't need to sprinkle them before ironing, something that would smooth out the wrinkles with as little effort as possible. I read quite a few reviews on Amazon before deciding which iron to buy. This one was highly acclaimed by many, so I bought it. What a good choice! I love this iron. Knowing that our tap water is hard, I bought a jug of distilled water and filled the iron's
Steam out wrinkles quickly and easily with this 1200-watt iron. The unit's titanium-coated curved soleplate provides smooth, gentle gliding, while its temperature ranges from 176 to 392 degrees F to accommodate a variety of different fabrics. The iron's jet-of-steam function delivers a powerful burst of steam to help remove stubborn wrinkles (or to help clean the steam vents), and its push-button spray mist directs extra moisture where it's needed most. The iron also offers adjustable steam settings for heavier fabrics or simple touch-ups, as well as a "dry" setting for no steam output. To ensure safety, its mercury-free electronic sensor automatically shuts off the iron after 10 minutes if left in the upright position and after 60 seconds if left unmoved on its soleplate or if tipped over on its side. Other highlights include a 6-ounce water tank, a large water window, an ergonomic rubber-grip handle, and an automatic retractable cord reel for tidy cord storage. The iron measures 10-7/16 by 4-5/16 by 5-1/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Knowing that our tap water is hard, I bought a jug of distilled water and filled the iron's reservoir to the appropriate line, followed the directions for steaming, and in no time at all, my curtains were beautifully ironed. It was just perfect for the job. The price was very reasonable for such a good iron, too, and it arrived in only a few days after I ordered it. I like everything about this iron. It's very smooth, not heavy at all, and it's also colorful, which brightens the mood when you're ironing... not a chore I ever enjoyed until now. I like the retractable cord, too. It's especially handy when the iron is stored. I highly recommend this product.
Ironing made easier! (2010-03-06) I am very pleased with my new iron. I previously had a Rowenta, which I purchased about 10 yrs earlier for $85.00 when it started making strange noises and spitting and sputtering I knew it was time for a new one. I really didn't want to spend so much money this time, but I still wanted an excellent product. I searched consumer reports and this one ranked best buy. It pretty much was impossible to find it in the stores except by catalog order. Amazon had the best price, hence it was the logical choice. Now I have a great product for a chore I really, really hate!
Better than Rowenda (2010-03-05)A short time after the warranty expired on my Rowenda steam iron (their best model), it broke. To get it fixed was going to cost as much as a new iron. I was steaming hot, because these irons were supposed to be the "best". They aren't. They're just expensive!!!
I decided to purchase your iron based on the reviews I read. I use it often and absolutely love it. It has tremendous steam, allows me to do my ironing in record time, and beats the Rowenda in ALL categories. I'd highly recommend this little baby to everyone.
Just what was needed (2010-03-03)The iron was the perfect fit for the needs we had. Didn't need any fancy bulky steamer. This works perfectly! Good steamer and heats up quickly.
Nice Iron! (2009-02-01)So far I've used this on pattern paper and several different types of fabric. It has a nice weight that you can allow to do most of the work for you, and it has a wonderful grip. It is fairly easy to fill the tank, and if you use a 3/4 cup measure to do it, you'll be just under Max - the tank is just over 6 oz.
It glides beautifully over my fabric, though I had to be a little careful with the paper, since this iron is fairly well weighted. It has both a spray button and a steam button, and a simple switch between dry, some steam, lots of steam.
The retractable cord is a wonderful thing and works very well. Blessed thing to have when there are curious animals that like to chew on cords or anything string-like. Makes for neat storage, too!
Heats quickly, and reheats quickly if it has shut itself off. It gives you 10 minutes if it is in the upright position, so that is plenty fine.
I love this iron!
Great, Easy to use, Nonstick iron! (2009-06-17)Panasonic NI-S300TR 1200-Watt Steam Iron with Curved Titanium-Coated Soleplate, White/Green
I purchased this iron to replace the Panasonic NI-A56NR. I had it for several years till the cord was destroyed. Loved the automatic cord reel and the curved soleplate. It slid over everything with no effort. My new Panasonic NI-S300TR has all the same features as the last one with the exception that the cord reel works even better! I think they may have increased the size of the reel housing to do this but I did not even notice this till I went to put it away and noticed that it was a bit taller than my last iron. The steam function works great and I love that I can select to have steam or dry iron at the flip of the thumb. I tried a different Shark from a local store and you could not even use the steam unless the iron was on the hottest setting and it claimed to be a "professional" model. To make a long story short, "Buy it"!
Does an excellent job (2009-06-07)I purchased this Panasonic steam iron with retractable cord in April after struggling with a couple of "lighter" irons. It does an excellent job on removing the wrinkles from clothes . . . steams and sprays very well. I've used it on a couple of craft projects too. Love the soleplate. It just seems to glide over things. If I needed to replace this iron, I would buy another one just exactly like it. I had a Rowenta iron for years and actually like this one much better. Nice job Panasonic!!
My new iron (2009-03-27)I know...an iron is an iron...
This one is really nice though. I like that the water reservoir is clear so that you can see when you need a refill. I like that the base is more substantial because I have a habit of knocking my iron off of the ironing board. (Reason for having to get a new one).
It works really well and I have no complaints. The price is great too.
Seems fine! (2009-03-29)So far, so good. I have only used the iron a few times but it already is superior to the previous iron I paid a lot more for. I had a Rowenta and before that a Rowenta - had trouble with both. Quite happy with this Panasonic. |
